South American way

(Al Dubin e Jimmy McHugh)

Ai, ai, ai, ai
É o canto do prigoneiro
Que com sua harmonia
Traz alegria
In South American way
Ai, ai, ai, ai
E o que faz em seu tabuleiro
Vende pra ioiô
E vende pra iaiá
In South American way

E vende vatapá
E vende caruru
E vende mungunzá
Vende umbu
No tabuleiro tem
Oi tem de tudo tem
E só não tem meu bem
Berenguendem
Ai, ai, ai, ai

Have you ever danced in the tropics?
With that hazy lazy
Like, kind of crazy
Like South American way
Ai, ai, ai, ai
Have you ever kissed in the moon light?
In the grand and glorious
Gay notorious
South American way

Ain't there anyone here for love?

Eu já disse que curto esse filme... A Marilyn em busca dum marido rico e a Jane Russell em busca de um marido bonitão...
Essa é a música da Jane...

Music: Jule Styne
Lyrics: Leo Robin

[Spoken]
Honey, you'll hurt yourself.
[Sung]
I can't play tennis,
My golf's a menace,
I just can't do the Australian crawl.
And I'm no better at volleyball
Ain't there anyone here for love, sweet love,
Ain't there anyone here for love?

I'm apathetic,and non-athletic,
Can't keep up in a marathon.
I need some shoulder to lean upon
And a couple of arms to hold me
Ain't there anyone here for love?

I'm not in condition to wrestle,
I've never trained in a gym.
Show me a man who can nestle
And I'll pin a medal on him.

Need some chappy
To make me happy
And he don't need to be Hercules.
Don't anyone know about birds and bees
Ain't there anyone here for love, sweet love,
Ain't there anyone here for love?

Doubles? Anyone?
Court's free.
Two out of three,
Anyone?
Doesn't anyone want to play?

I like big muscles
And red corpuscles,
I like a beautiful hunk of man,
But I'm no physical culture fan
Ain't there anyone, ain't there anyone,
Ain't there anyone, anyone, anyone, anyone
For love?

Diamonds are a girl's best friend

E essa é a música da Marilyn:

The French are glad to die for love,
they delight in fighting duels.
But I prefer a man who lives
and gives
expensive jewels

A kiss on the hand may be quite continental,
but diamonds are a girl's best friend...
A kiss may be grand but it won't pay the rental
on your humble flat or help you at the automat

Men grow cold as girls grow old,
and we all lose our charms in the end...
but square-cut or pear-shaped,
these rocks don't lose their shape
Diamonds are a girl's best friend

There may come a time when a lass needs a lawyer,
but diamonds are a girl's best friend...
there may come a time when a hard boiled employer
thinks you're awful nice
but get that ice or else no dice,

He's your guy when stocks are high
But beware when they start to descend...
It's then that those louses go back to their spouses,
Diamonds are a girl's best friend

We heard of affairs that are strictly platonic,
but diamonds are a girl's best friend...
and I think affairs that you must get with sonnets,
are better bets if little pets get big baguettes,

Time rolls on and youth is gone,
and you can't straighten up when you bend...
But stiff back or stiff knees
you stand straight at tiff-nees,
Diamonds are a girl's best friend

Somewhere my love (Lara's theme)

Ray Conniff
Música: Paul Francis Webster & Maurice Jarre

Essa é pra chorar muito...

Somewhere, my love,
there will be songs to sing
Although the snow
covers the hopes of spring
Somewhere a hill
blossoms in green and gold
And there are dreams,
all that your heart can hold
Someday, we'll meet again, my love
Someday, whenever the spring breaks through

You'll come to me
out of the long-ago
Warm as the wind,
soft as the kiss of snow
Till then, my sweet,
think of me now and then

Godspeed, my love,
till you are mine again
Someday we'll meet again, my love
I said "someday
whenever the spring breaks through"

You'll come to me
out of the long-ago
Warm as the wind,
and soft as the kiss of snow
Till then, my sweet,
think of me now and then
Godspeed, my love,
till you are mine again.

People

Então, vamos à série "músicas de Funny girl"... Afinal... People who watch to Funny girl are the luckiest people in the world!!!

We travel single oh
Maybe we're lucky
But I don't know
With them just let one kid fall down and seven mothers faint
I guess we're both happy,
But maybe we ain't

People,
People who need people,
Are the luckiest people in the world
We're children,
Needing other children
And yet letting a grown-up pride
Hide all the need inside
Acting more like children than children

Lovers are very special people
They're the luckiest people in the world
With one person one very special person
A feeling deep in your soul
Says you're half now you're whole
No more hunger and thirst
But first be a person
Who needs people
People who need people
Are the luckiest people in the world...

Hum...mmm...
A feeling deep in your soul
Says you were half now you're whole
No more hunger and thirst
But first be a person who needs people
People who need people
Are the luckiest people in the world...

You are woman, I am man

Essa letra é muito engraçada... E, sem brincadeira, eu já vi essa cena do filme umas... 30 vezes.

NICK (Omar Sharif)
You are woman, I am man
You are smaller,
So I can be taller than,
You are softer to the touch,
It's a feeling
I like feeling very much.
You are someone I've admired,
Still, our friendship
Leaves something to be desired...
Does it take more explanation than this?
You are woman, I am man
Let's kiss.

FANNY (Barbra Streisand)
Isn't this the height of nonchalance,
Furnishing a bed in restaurants?
Well, a bit of dinner never hurt,
But guess who is gonna be dessert?
Do good girls do just what mama says,
When mama's not around?
It's a feeling,
Oy vey, what a feeling.

NICK
A bit of pate?

FANNY
I drink it all day!
Should I do the things he'll tell me to?
In this pickle what would Sadie do?
In my soul I feel an inner lack,
Just suppose he wants his dinner back?
Just some dried-out toast in a sliver
On the top a...a little chopped liver.
How many girls become a sinner
While waiting for a roast beef dinner?
Though most girls slip in ordinary ways
I got style
I do it bordelaise.
Well at least you think I'm special
You ordered à la carte.
It's a feeling,
I like feeling very...
I feel the feeling down to my toes
Now I feel that there's a fire here,
Try that once a little higher, dear
What a beast to ruin such a pearl!
Would a convent take a Jewish girl?
[Laughs]

NICK
Does it take more explanation than this?

FANNY
Ooo the thrills and chills going through me
If I stop him now,
Can he sue me?

NICK
You are woman.

FANNY
You are man.

NICK
Let's....

My man

Não tem nada que eu goste mais do que filmes em que o homem vai embora no final, né... E a mulher fica com aquela cara de “Oh! E agora quem poderá me defender?”
Ou, no caso da Funny girl, começa a cantar:"I’m his foooooooreeeeeeeveeeeermoooooooooooooooooooooooore!!!!"

A Barbra Streisand não canta a primeira parte ("He's not much on looks..."). Então ela começa a partir daqui:

Oh, my man I love him so
He'll never know
All my life is just despair
But I don't care
When he takes me in his arms
The world is bright all right

What's the difference if I say
I'll go away
When I know I'll come back on my knees someday
For whatever my man is
I am his forever more

(repete tudo, desta vez gritando de tanta dor-de-cotovelo)
